A Child's Summer Memories
This past weekend one of our local church's held it's annual 3-Day Italian Feast. I'm sure you are familiar with the food and the atmosphere...sausage sandwiches, fried dough, lemonade, tomatoe pie, tripe, the beer garden, carnival rides and great music. My wife and I have been involved with this feast long before we had Anthony and Nicholas. So I was thinking Sunday night as Nicholas and I were walking around the feast grounds hand in hand that I hope he would remember the good times we were having when he gets older. Like the way I remember spending a part of my summer with my family at the now defunct Flemington Fair. Nicholas and I rode the "Tornado ". Now, I'm not a fan of rides that go spinning around and get you dizzy, but somehow most kids seem to be immune to this stuff and Nicholas, of course, LOVED this ride. Well, getting a little dizzy was worth the smile and jubilation that I saw on his face when he asked me if I would go on this ride with him. I'm hoping that my wife and I are helping to create good memories of growing up for Anthony and Nicholas. As parents it's important to help make these childhood memories for our kids because there's enough bad stuff going on around us all the time. What do you think? Oh and the ride...it wasn't that bad, I'd do it again...but don't tell Nicholas! :) Talk to ya later!posted by Mark Shepperd on 7/13/2010 4:15:09 PM
